A Nonogram (also known as Picross, Griddler, or Hanjie) presents an empty grid framed by sequences of numbers along the top and left borders. Every number describes an unbroken run of filled black squares in that specific row or column. If multiple numbers are listed, the corresponding groups of black squares appear in that exact sequence, separated by at least one empty square.

Your goal is to reconstruct the complete hidden image using pure deductive logic. Guessing is never required on well-formed puzzles. You succeed when every row and column strictly satisfies its numerical clues.

Systematic logic allows you to solve even complex grids without guessing:

1. Overlap (Intersection)

When a number is larger than half the row length, certain central squares must be filled regardless of whether the block sits flush against the left or right wall. For example, in a 10-cell row with clue 8, the block extends from cell 1 to 8 (leftmost) or cell 3 to 10 (rightmost). Cells 3 through 8 overlap in both possibilities and can be safely filled immediately.

2. Edge Clues and Propagation

If a square next to a border is filled, the first clue number must anchor against that edge. Count out that length, fill the remaining cells, and immediately place an X in the cell directly following the block, because groups must be separated by an empty space.

3. Cross Elimination

Whenever a clue group is completed, mark all remaining empty cells in that line with crosses. Conversely, if an empty space between two crosses is shorter than the smallest remaining clue, fill those cells with crosses right away.
